Do you think you know everything about your car? Check again! There can be specific details and functions you may not know about. At HB Auto & AC, we want you to know as much as possible about your vehicle to enjoy everything it has to offer. If you are interested in learning some things you may not know about your car, please continue reading!
Most modern cars operate on a push-button ignition system. This system is tied to your vehicle’s computer and works by sensing that the brake is pushed down, allowing you to start your car. If your stop light switch goes out, your push-button ignition might not work, leading you not to be able to start the vehicle. This can get misdiagnosed as a bad battery, bad alternator, bad starter, and more! When in reality, it is a tiny switch that is very easily accessible in most vehicles, right on top of your brake pedal!
Another helpful function you may not know your vehicle has is a drowsiness detection system! Found in some Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Volvo vehicles, this function detects when a driver is swerving or constantly leaving their lane and notifies them of this dangerous pattern. If you are a proud owner of a Subaru, you may have noticed this next feature on our list. The feature we are talking about is the signal change warning! This function gives the driver of a Subaru a warning that the cars in front started moving. This is useful at red lights if you get side-tracked and are not fully aware of the cars in front of you.
The last functions you may not know about are the gas tank locator and the built-in vacuum found in some cars. The gas tank locator is a small arrow pointing towards the side of your vehicle where you have to fill up from. This arrow is typically found next to the gas pump icon on your dashboard. For the owners of a Honda Odyssey, you may be glad to know that your vehicle comes with a built-in vacuum! No more need to visit a car wash when you have a spill. While this is a fantastic feature for Odyssey owners, we need to see this in other vehicles.
The staff at HB Auto & AC in Huntington Beach, CA, hope you were able to learn a thing or two about hidden and missed features you can find in your vehicle.
