It’s important to have ASE certified auto mechanics on speed dial. Not only can we swoop into action when you need auto repairs to be carried out, we can also work with you to keep your car in tip top condition using genuine manufacturer recommended parts and the kind of craft and expertise that can only come from over 25 years in the field.
Oil servicing
Without regular oil changes, your oil can become thick and black like treacle. When this happens it is unable to give your vehicle’s moving parts the essential lubrication that they need to work properly and keep your car healthy. Most manufacturers recommend that you change your oil every 10,000 miles or 12 months (whichever comes first). As your vehicle ages you may also need to change your oil and pollen filter, your spark plugs or your fuel filter. We can help to advise you on the servicing you need to keep your car happy and healthy.
Brake repair and servicing
Your brakes are an integral part of keeping your vehicle safe. Over time as your brakes become worn they can become less responsive and effective with potentially life-threatening consequences. What’s more, heavily worn brake pads can cause problems in a range of other areas including your brake callipers, your rotors, your suspension and your tires. This can lead to some serious and costly repairs later down the line.
Fortunately, we can provide a brake inspection and advise when your brake pads may need to be replaced or when your hydraulic fluid needs to be drained and replaced.
Transmission service and repair
If you’re one of the 98% of Americans that drive a car with automatic transmission it’s important to ensure that you have a regular transmission service to facilitate smooth gear changes which lead to smooth driving without excess wear on your engine. In order to do this effectively, most manufacturers recommend that the transmission fluid in your vehicle should be changed every 30,000-60,000 miles depending on how much you use your vehicle.
Again, our years of experience mean that we are ideally placed to recommend when to change your transmission fluid or when your transmission may be in need of repairs.
Timing belt replacement
Your timing belt is essential in maintaining the rhythm of your engine. This is made of rubber and as such is subject to wear. When a timing belt becomes worn this can lead to slippage. When this happens, your engine’s pistons can impact on your cylinder head and get bent out of shape. This may necessitate a head gasket replacement or even a whole new engine in extreme circumstances.
To avoid this costly repair most manufacturers will recommend you replace your timing belt every 5 years or 50,000 miles. In many models the water pump is located quite close to the timing belt and it may be pertinent to change both and carry out a coolant flush at the same time to save money on further repairs later down the line. It takes approximately 2.5-4 hours to strip down an engine to get to the timing belt and water pump and killing both birds with one stone can save money in labor costs at a later date.
AC servicing and repair
Any Californian driver knows that working AC is essential for their comfort (and / or sanity) especially when summer rolls around. Fortunately, we have the knowledge and expertise to deliver fast and efficient AC servicing, diagnostics and auto ac repairs so you need never drive around feeling like a turkey in a hot oven on Thanksgiving Day!
Suspension repair
Your suspension does a whole lot more than keep your driving comfortable and pleasurable (although it does do that too). If you feel it’s time for a suspension repair, give HB Auto a call and we’ll provide an inspection right away. It is integral in preventing bumps and jolts caused by driving on uneven surfaces from doing any damage to your vehicle and helps to maintain the car’s alignment. Over time, however, your car’s shock absorbers can become stiff and compromise your suspension. Your shock absorbers are wrapped in a rubber “boot” filled with grease which helps it to move freely and smoothly. However, the rubber in these boots can perish over time and split causing grease to leak out and admit road dust which can impede its movement and lead to excessive wear.
Likewise the rubber boot protecting your Constant Velocity (CV) joint can also rupture and leak grease making it susceptible to becoming stiffened by wear and road dust.
Fuel injection service
Your car’s fuel injection service injects fuel into the engine as a mist because this makes it easier to burn. However, over time these injectors can become clogged leading to issues like higher than average emission levels, rough idling or stalling. A fuel injection service gets your system clean and sparkling again to ensure that your engine runs as smoothly as the day you bought your car.
Fast and efficient diagnostics
It can be a worrying and stressful time when your vehicle isn’t running in the way you’ve come to expect. Unusual noises, performance issues and engine lights on your dash can be a source of great anxiety. Fortunately, we can put your mind at ease straight away with efficient and effective diagnostics. We can get to the heart of the issue quickly and provide you with reasonable, realistic, comprehensive and no-nonsense quotes for repairs.
